Alcohol and other drug abuse services in Illinois consist of: 1. Early Intervention is pre-treatment services for individuals whose problems or risk factors appear to be related to substance abuse but who do not meet any diagnostic criteria for substance abuse related disorders.

The discharge record may include more than one diagnosis specific to alcohol abuse (i.e. alcohol dependence syndrome and alcoholic gastritis). Therefore, when counting all-listed diagnoses, the sum of all occurrences of diagnoses specific to alcohol abuse (the column sum in the tables D, E and F) is greater than the total number of discharges.
